Course Description:
Conversational Spanish is an introductory course designed to help participants develop basic proficiency in the four main language learning skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing, with an emphasis on speaking. It will enable them to interact with Spanish speakers and material at a basic level.
- Engage in everyday conversations in specific social situations and communicate general needs
- Understand simple oral messages conveying personal opinions and general information in basic situations
- Get the gist of authentic written and oral texts focusing on everyday topics
- Write short notes on personal experiences using simple statements

Maria Woods is a French and Spanish speaker, translator and instructor. She also speaks Portuguese. Ms.Woods holds a Master of Arts Degree in Applied Foreign Languages, Spanish-English-French from Universite Paul Valery, Montpellier, France. She has worked for the French Embassy, the Alliance Francaise, the Association of Caribbean States, the Caribbean Interpreting and Translating Bureau of the University of the West Indies, and the Ministry of National Security.
