International Literacy Day, observed annually on September 8th, is a global celebration that underscores the importance of literacy as a fundamental human right and a cornerstone for lifelong learning. This year, the Tobago Hospitality and Tourism Institute (THTI) is proud to join the worldwide community in promoting literacy through a series of educational and engaging activities.
At THTI, we understand that literacy extends beyond the ability to read and write; it is about empowering individuals to communicate effectively and engage critically with the world around them. To mark this special day, THTI will host a guest lecture on the crucial role of literacy in the hospitality industry, illustrating how strong reading and communication skills can pave the way for career advancement and personal development.

In addition to the lecture, we are organizing a book drive, giveaways and a reading corner, where students and community members are invited to donate books or simply enjoy the pleasure of reading. By fostering a love for reading and learning, we aim to contribute to the global effort to improve literacy rates and promote educational opportunities for all.
Join us on September 9th 2024 as we celebrate International Literacy Day at THTI. Let’s come together to empower minds, one book at a time.
