The Tobago Hospitality & Tourism Institute, has established itself as a beacon of excellence in the field of hospitality and tourism education over the last two and a half decades, continuously generating industry leaders and professionals who have made their mark on the world stage.  As we reflect on this remarkable journey, we pay tribute to THTI’s unwavering commitment to providing quality education and shaping the future of the hospitality and tourism industry in Tobago and beyond.

Since its inception in 1997, THTI has been dedicated to nurturing talent and empowering students with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience needed to excel in the dynamic world of hospitality. What started as a modest institute has flourished into a renowned institution, setting new standards and inspiring others in the field.

THTI’s commitment to excellence has been unwavering, and its impact on the industry has been far-reaching. In 2009, THTI became the first indigenous Tobago institution to be registered with the Accreditation Council of Trinidad and Tobago (ACTT). In 2014 THTI was awarded Institutional Accreditation and re-accredited in 2019 for an additional 5 years. Presently, THTI is among the list of approved and accredited educational institutions and the only ACTT accredited hospitality and tourism institution in Trinidad & Tobago.The curriculum enables students to seamlessly transfer between tourism training organisations, and more importantly, offers a wider range of opportunities for employment.  

One of the key factors behind THTI’s success is its emphasis on practical learning. Recognizing that the hospitality industry is highly experiential, THTI has consistently provided students with hands-on training and real-world exposure. Through modern equipment, pop-up shops, industry partnerships, and internships, THTI ensures that its graduates are well-prepared to tackle the challenges and opportunities that await them in the professional realm. This practical approach sets THTI apart and has contributed to the institution’s reputation for producing competent and industry-ready graduates.
