Government Assistance For Tuition Expenses (GATE)
Eligibility Requirements:
- Citizenship/Residency:Must be a citizen of Trinidad & Tobago with 3+ years of continuous residency.
- Age:Between 18-50 years old (as of application).
- Acceptance:Accepted into a GATE-approved local or regional Tertiary Level Institution (TLI) and program.
- No Previous Funding:Generally a first-time recipient for a new program.
Required Documents:
- Identity:Birth Certificate, National ID or Passport, Deed Poll/Marriage Certificate (if applicable).
- Academic:Latest Transcripts/Result Slip, Acceptance Letter.
- Income Proof:Documents for the mandatory means test (e.g. recent pay slips, tax info).
Application Process:
- Get an e-Service ID:Register at a TTConnect Centre or online for your unique ID and password.
- Log In:Access the GATE e-Service website.
- Complete Application:Fill out the form and upload all required documents.
- Means Test:Provide income details for funding calculation.
- Sign Agreement:Finalize by signing the GATE Student Agreement (at the office of Students Receivables – Miss Legerton).
Funding Tiers (Means-Tested):
- ≤ TT$10,000/month:100% funding.
- >TT$10,000 – TT$30,000/month:75% funding.
