The Department of Advanced Training and Advisory Services (DATAS)

The Department of Advanced Training and Advisory Services (DATAS) facilitates the Human Capital Development Policy for Tobago through the Tobago House of Assembly’s (THA) Financial Assistance Programme. DATAS has the responsibility for the administration of bursaries, grants and scholarships to residents of Tobago who wish to pursue or are pursuing tertiary /post-secondary education.

This type of financial assistance is awarded to individuals pursuing programmes no longer than one (1) year and does not exceed TTD20, 000.00, on the basis of financial need.

How to Apply
  1. Enter N/A for all areas that may not apply. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
  2. All currency values should be expressed in Trinidad and Tobago Dollars (TTD).
  3.  Your application will be pre-screened and the result of this process will be communicated at least within an estimated 5 working days from the application submission date.
  4. To finalize the submission process an appointment will be scheduled within 5 working days of completing the pre-screening process. Originals and supporting documents must be presented for verification at the applications.
  5. Please note that applications are not considered as ACCEPTED until the pre-screening and verification stages are complete.

A SCANNED/PDF COPY of the following documents must be ready for upload with your application:

    • One (1) PASSPORT-SIZED PHOTO must be uploaded with the application and the SAME photo emailed to applications.datas@thadert.gov.tt. Photo must be 2” x 2” in size with a background that is uniform, plain and white.

Applications without photos will NOT be accepted.

    • National Identification Card (front and back).
    • Statement of benefit to Tobago.
    • Acceptance Letter or enrolment from institution/school.
    • Programme Description Outline, (i.e. an official list of courses required for the completion and ultimate awarding of the degree, diploma or certificate).
    • Official letter from Institution stating duration of programme.
    • Statement of Recognition from the Accreditation Council of Trinidad and
      Tobago (EXCEPT – UWI, UTT and COSTAATT).
    • Curriculum Vitae/Resume.
    • Proof of income (pay slip/job letter) or (Income/expenditure statement).
    • GATE Documents (status/clearance).

If applicable to your request for financial assistance:

  • Letter from school/institution stating the cost of the programme.
  • Schedule of classes (for transportation expenses).
  • Official book/material/equipment listing from the institution and a Proforma Invoice.
  • Certified copy of original rental/lease agreement.

Applications:

Applicants who submit an application KNOWING that the information is NOT TRUE shall have their application rendered INVALID and not acknowledged by the Tobago House of Assembly.

APPLICATIONS ARE ACCEPTED YEAR ROUND.
