Learning Outcomes
- Describe the components of the system of accommodation
- State the integral parts of the building and analyze how it achieves the goal of being an overall aesthetically appealing subsystem.
- Describe and analyze the accommodation services
- Analyze how staffing must be integrated within the entire management of the accommodation process
- Discuss materials management and analyze systems implemented to control the movement of resources
- Discuss standards and analyze the concept of quality in relation to productivity.
Course Description:
Accommodations II delves into the management aspect of accommodations. This course provides the relevant theoretical and practical exposure students will need for the effective management of an accommodation. Students will also develop attitudes to quality and value in respect of people, management and customer care.
Classes will be conducted using direct and indirect instructions including lecturers, case studies, brainstorming and field trip. Additional readings would be issued in preparation for classes. Other teaching strategies for the course will range from power point presentations to guided discussions on specific topics. Learning strategies will include active and collaborative learning, critical thinking that is required for the completion of assignments in class and group project.
