TOBAGO NUTRITION CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETY LTD (TNCS) with its offices located at Bon Accord Main Road, Tobago is responsible for the School Feeding Programme and caters for weddings, luncheons, dinners, conferences parties and entertainment. 

TNCS invites suitably qualified individuals to join its dynamic team in the following positions:

COOK II

The successful individual will work in the Production area of the organization and be responsible for the preparation and provision of well-balanced and nutritious meals for students of Tobago in accordance with menu requirements, health and culinary standards.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCES:

Possession of a Certificate or Diploma in Food Nutrition and Preparation from a recognized Tertiary Educational institution; in addition to two (2) years’ experience in commercial food production. HACCP/ServSafe or similar Training and certification will be a definite asset.

The experience gained should include:

  • Conversion methodologies
  • Menu Planning
  • Food Cost Control
  • Working in a fast-paced environment
  • Closing/end of day duties as they relate to the proper storage and securing of reusable items, breakdown procedures of all goods, and cleaning and sanitising

The incumbent must also possess:

  • Knowledge of food hygiene, safety and sanitation practices
  • Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods
  • Ability to prepare a variety of meals of nutritional value and quality
  • Ability to work within budgetary allocations
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Possession of a valid food handler’s badge/certificate.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Apportion meals for distribution in accordance with pre-determined standards
  • Monitor the quality of food preparation, cooking techniques, food temperatures, and presentation and ensures consistency according to generally accepted standards.
  • Prepare list of food items and other consumables and material needed for daily production in liaison with the Storesroom
  • Receive and weigh food items in accordance with the demands of menus.
  • Ensure that kitchen implements, utensils and work areas are clean and sanitary in accordance with required standards
  • Inspect and maintain order, safety, good working condition and sanitation of tools and equipment and report defects/deficiencies
  • Prepares staff meals as required

STOREKEEPER

The successful individual will work in the Operations Department and will be responsible for the planning, maintenance and control of the Storage, Warehousing and Distribution system of the organization.   

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCES:

Evidence of training in Stores Keeping and Inventory Management and possession of five (5) C.X.C. or G.C.E. O’ Levels, including English Language and Mathematics.   Possession of Accounts will be an asset.  Five (5) years’ experience in Stores/ Inventory Control and Management is required. 

The experience gained should include:

  • Inventory recording and management systems, especially automated systems
  • Health, sanitation and Safety standards for the receipt, control, issuance, discard of stores items
  • Familiarity with Requisition methods and Systems

The incumbent must also possess:

  • Knowledge of prevailing storeroom policies and procedures
  • Knowledge pf record management systems and software for Stores Management
  • Knowledge of principles and prevailing policies on expired goods and control of stock items becoming expired.
  • Microsoft Office Suite competence
  • Honest and dependable
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Excellent organizational skills

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Possession of a valid food handler’s badge/certificate.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Verify the accuracy of requisitions and invoices against supplies received
  • Issue goods and supplies in accordance with verified requisitions and other related documents
  • Report on shortages, breakages and other discrepancies
  • Ensure that food items are distributed in accordance with requirements of the menu cycle and other needs in liaison with the Nutrition Department.
  • Ensure that appropriate acceptable storage, health, safety and sanitary standards and procedures prevail in the management of the Stores Department
  • Responsible for the clean and orderly state of the storeroom
  • Conduct stock checks and compile reports of stock-taking and inventory
  • Prepare periodical reports advising on activities, damage, dormant and excessive stock
  • Prepare expired or obsolete items for inspection and accounting prior to discard, and remove from off the stock cards and system
  • Manage the performance of staff under his/her supervision, inclusive of the planning and coordination of schedules, activities and duties and responsibilities
